25 Beautiful Images of Horses and Dogs Together

“A dog may be man’s best friend, but horses wrote history” goes the well-known saying. While some horse owners might disagree, it’s true that both horses and dogs play important roles in today’s society, as they have done for thousands of years.

Being predator and prey, dogs and horses have very different instincts. When feeling threatened, a horse’s first reaction is to run, while dogs choose to fight instead. However, this doesn’t stop them from getting along and even playing together!

Few sights are more heart-melting than horses and dogs enjoying each other’s company. Below, we have a selection of cute images showing just that!

I had a Doberman male who would hold the lead rope and walk my horse as well as when I did lunging work and needed to be close to my mare who was very skittish.

I totally LOVE these photos. Having grown up in farm country during the 1950s, I was taken back to a more idyllic period in my life. Dogs, horses, cattle, rabbits, fowl and kitties were all part of my life. Thank you for this moment for nostalgia!
