The year-long wait for Yellowstone season 5 is over with the release of the first four episodes.

The eventful season 5 premiere reached a record-breaking 12.1 million live-plus-same-day viewers, an increase of over 10% from the previous season.

Episode 1 saw John Dutton take office as Montana’s new governor, flashbacks of beloved characters, a transformed Carter, and the return of some old foes.

But a shocking tragedy overshadowed the premiere with the death of Monica and Kayce’s unborn baby after Monica had a car crash.

To make things more heartbreaking, the unborn son was revealed to be called John Dutton.

Episode 2 ended with fans learning that Rip’s plan to cover up the killing of some tagged wolves on the ranch unknowingly hasn’t worked.

With this, could John Dutton’s first scandal as governor of Montana be just around the corner?

Episode 3 shows officers following up on the wolves that disappeared. The episode ends with Beth in custody after a bar fight breaks out, with Rip warning the sheriff of the mistake that he’s making.

In Episode 4 Jamie visits Beth after charges were dropped, with Beth managing to get a ride back with Jamie. This paves the way for an argument full of drama in what is a defining moment in their relationship.

With only 3 episodes remaining in Season 5 part 1, many fans are wondering if they will be explosive or whether we will have to wait until the 7 episodes in part 2.
