Since its release in 2018, Yellowstone has skyrocketed in popularity, becoming the number one non-football show on television.

The series follows the Dutton family as they defend their highly sought-after ranch in Montana, the largest in America. Using a ruthless mix of business, politics, and violence, the Duttons do whatever it takes to hold onto their prized land.

After the recent announcement that Yellowstone will end after Season 5, fans are eager to know how many episodes remain and when they will air.

How Many Episodes Does Yellowstone Season 5 Have?

Season 5 comprises 14 episodes, divided into two parts: Part 1 with 8 episodes and Part 2 with 6 episodes. Part 1 concluded on January 1, 2023, with Episode 8.

After delays due to production issues and scheduling conflicts, including the writers’ and actors’ strikes, Part 2 premiered on November 10, 2024, with Episode 9. The final episode, Episode 14, is scheduled to air on December 15, 2024.

What’s Next for Yellowstone?

In May 2023, it was officially announced that Yellowstone would conclude with its fifth season, following the departure of Kevin Costner, who had been a central figure in the series. However, in August 2024, TVLine reported surprising news that a Season 6 was potentially in the works, with stars Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton) and Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler) expected to lead the continuation. This announcement came as fans were preparing to bid farewell to the series with the Season 5 finale.

Adding to the uncertainty, Cole Hauser had shared a cryptic Instagram post before the finale, referring to his “last day on set,” which many interpreted as confirmation that the show was wrapping up for good. However, subsequent reporting by Deadline clarified that while Yellowstone as originally conceived was ending, Reilly and Hauser had finalized deals to reprise their iconic roles in a new spinoff series. According to Deadline, this offshoot will carry significant ties to the original series, potentially even retaining the Yellowstone title, making it distinct from other spinoffs in the franchise.

While details remain scarce, industry speculation suggests that the spinoff may undergo slight rebranding, allowing it to stream on Paramount+ – a departure from Yellowstone’s previous availability on other platforms. Meanwhile, show creator Taylor Sheridan continues to expand the Yellowstone universe, with other spinoffs like The Madison already in development. We should also get a 1923 season 2, and a 6666 series.

For now, fans can look forward to the continuation of the Dutton saga through this new project, though it’s clear that Yellowstone as it was originally known has come to a close. Whether the upcoming series will maintain the same tone and structure remains to be seen, but it’s evident that Beth and Rip’s story is far from over.

We love the series but we purchased season 5 but we were only able to watch up to episode 4. Are we going to have to purchase the rest of season 5 again?
