Will There Be A Free Rein Season 4? Here’s What We Know

Free Rein has long been a favorite series in the horsey world.

The series does a superb job at showcasing the day-to-day struggles and social dynamics of young equestrians.

It’s now been over two years since the premiere of Free Rein Season 3 on July 6, 2019. With no new series since, fans are worried about the show’s future.

Unfortunately, there likely won’t be a Free Rein Season 4. Cast member Céline Buckens brought the news to fans through a podcast in January 2021.

It’s no surprise that her shocking announcement caused an uproar in the Free Rein fandom.

Céline Buckens plays the character of Mia spoke of the news in a podcast called Headstrong. When the interviewer asked if there is something to come from Free Rein in the future, Céline answered:

“I don’t think so. I think, unfortunately, that’s the end of Free Rein.” Hearing the interviewer’s disappointment, she added: “You never know, you never know.”

Did Netflix Cancel Free Rein?

Although Netflix didn’t officially cancel Free Rein, the series has likely concluded. However, since there has been no word from the streaming platform regarding the show, some fans are still hopeful for a new season.

While the announcement from Céline Buckens sounded final, fans are not so quick to give up on their beloved show.

Some sources argue that Netflix usually announces cancellations sooner than renewals. Therefore, there is still a glimmer of hope for the return of Free Rein.

What’s more, Season 3 of the show had a rather open-ended finale, which gives plenty of scope for a new season.

We saw the possibility of Zoe going to a prestigious riding school in Florida, and other characters achieving success as well. There is definitely still a lot of stories to tell in the Free Rein universe.

Free Rein is a Netflix original series, and so it is available exclusively on Netflix. Although the platform is not currently offering a free trial, their basic plan is only $9.99/month, and you can cancel any time!
