The neo-Western drama Yellowstone follows the Dutton family on their powerful Montana cattle ranch. The series juggles family drama, corruption, politics, shifting alliances, and border conflicts as the Duttons strive to maintain the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch.
Across the five seasons, Yellowstone has featured songs from some of the biggest names in country music. In addition, the show has also featured lesser-known artists, giving them a big boost.
One band to gain traction from being featured on Yellowstone is Whiskey Myers. Since season 1, Whiskey Myers has been featured on Yellowstone nine times, leaving quite an impression on fans.
Who is Whiskey Myers?
Whiskey Myers is an American Southern rock/country group from Palestine, Texas. The band consists of members Cody Cannon, Cody Tate, John Jeffers, Jeff Hogg, Tony Kent, and Jamey Gleaves.
On the about section on their website, the band states: “For this band of renegade brothers, the goal isn’t to fit into a format or try a new direction for its own sake, it’s to be true to the music they love — and with Whiskey Myers they continue pushing in all directions and sharpening their attack, whether country, rock, blues, whatever — even adding the legendary McCrary Sisters’ gospel influence to the project on background vocals.”
Whiskey Myers was founded in 2007, releasing their first album, Road of Life, in 2008. The band released their second album, Firewater, in 2011, debuting in the Top 30 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.
After receiving positive critic reviews, Whiskey Myers released the albums Early Morning Shakes in 2014 and Mud in 2016. Then, the band hit it big by being featured on Yellowstone for the first time in 2018.

After being featured on Yellowstone, the band’s three albums jumped to the top 10 iTunes country chart. Whiskey Myers saw a big boost as their music reached a much larger scale.
Whiskey Myers was approached by show creator Taylor Sheridan before the public knew anything about the show. After talking it over, the band decided to accept the gig, having no idea how successful Yellowstone would be.
The band even had a cameo in the show, appearing in season 1 episode 4. The shoot lasted for about 12 to 13 hours, with the band playing for around eight to nine of those hours.
“I’m very humbled by how positive the reaction has been with all the fan interaction digging the music. We knew that you just have to hang in there and put out quality music, and timing will present itself. After working at this dream for 10 years it’s exciting to have our moment to shine on a national stage,” said guitarist John Jeffers.
After their Yellowstone debut, Whiskey Myers went on to release the album Whiskey Myers in 2019 and the album Tornillo in 2022. The album Whiskey Myers went on to debut at Number 1 on Billboard Country, Number 2 on Billboard active rock, and Number 6 on the Billboard 200.
