Taylor Sheridan is back at it again with the upcoming series Lawmen: Bass Reeves. Originally titled 1883: The Bass Reeves Story, the series is now an independent storyline from 1883.
Lawmen: Bass Reeves is set to follow the story of real-life legend Bass Reeves. Reeves was the first black U.S. Marshal to serve west of the Mississippi River. During his career, he arrested over 3,000 criminals while never getting injured.
A Western icon, Reeves is believed to have served as inspiration for The Lone Ranger. Not only was Reeves a skilled lawman, but he also escaped slavery and spoke multiple Native American languages.
