After playing Ty Borden for several years on Heartland, Graham Wardle left the show after the first episode of the 14th season.
Ty was killed off in the episode so that Wardle could make his departure from the show for his own creative reasons.
Many Heartland were saddened to learn about Wardle leaving the show. His character Ty had been a lead role in the show ever since season one and had become a fan favorite.
Since leaving Heartland, Wardle has kept busy with new ventures. Moving on from Heartland has allowed him to pursue his other interests outside of the show and acting.
After leaving Heartland, Graham Wardle started a podcast and wrote a book. He now focuses on being a creative storyteller, using various avenues and outlets for expression.
Wardle’s podcast is called Time Has Come. The description for the podcast is “What life exists for you outside your comfort zone? How does one cultivate the strength, courage and faith to move beyond the fears that hold us back? Graham Wardle explores the personal journeys of his guests and how they have stepped beyond what is familiar/safe and into the unknown.”
Wardle interviews various people on his podcasts. He even has an episode that includes his Heartland co-star Amber Marshall.
In addition to his podcast Time Has Come, Wardle has also written a book of collections of his writings and poetry. The book called Find Your Truth is currently only available in digital form.
“Over ten years ago I was challenged to put my writings into a book and I thought, ‘No one would read it, why would I do that? Well over 2000 people did and I’m eternally grateful. Thank you to all who have purchased my book and supported my work,” said Wardle on Instagram.

Graham Wardle left Heartland because he felt it was time to move on from acting and explore other areas of life.
After being on the show since 2007, Wardle wanted to move on and focus on new projects.
Wardle actually approached series creator Murray Shostak about leaving the show two years prior to the airing of his last episode. He had been planning for quite some time to leave the world of acting to pursue his own endeavors.
Wardle had previously taken a leave of absence from the show in season 10 when his character left for Mongolia.
His final appearance in the show happened in season 14 episode one when his character died from complications of a gunshot wound.
In the show, Ty’s death came as a surprise to many. He left behind his wife Amy, who is played by Amber Marshall, and his daughter Lyndy.
“I felt in my heart it was time to move in a new direction… I now host the ‘Time Has Come’ podcast, and there will be a future episode coming out where I plan to share much more about my decision and my appreciation for the 14 years I’ve spent on Heartland,” said Wardle.

Amber Marshall acted alongside Graham Wardle since season one. Their characters started off as angsty teenagers before becoming a married couple with a daughter.
In a recent interview with the Hallmark Podcast, Marshall opened up about how she felt season 14 was very depressing due to the death of Ty.
“Season 14 was very depressing. I have to say. There’s an event that happens, which I’m sure you’re aware of, that just shattered the Heartland family. And it kind of tore us up a little bit too because this is a character that’s been with all of us for 14 years, 13 years,” she said.
While Marshall took it hard when she learned about Wardle’s plans to leave the show, she supported his decision. She felt hurt about his departure but wanted what was best for him.
“Of course, we’re a very supportive group of people. We care about each other very much, we have been working together for over a decade,” said Amber.
“I think it’s so important to listen to our gut and know what really drives us and to follow that. And yes, you’re going to hurt people along the way. But he did it in such a respectful way to all of us. And I think that that is the most important thing,” she continued.
